Our Story... As told by Shannon.

It all started in the year, 2001. It was December, and I had been working at the Eissey Campus Theatre for almost 3 years. We received word that our sister Theatre in Belle Glade, the Dolly Hand Cultural Arts Center, was in need of extra people to work a particularly heavy technical show. So, I volunteered to go, along with our boss and two others girls from the Eissey Crew. The show was Cinderella on Ice, and there wasn't an ice rink to be found in the small town of Belle Glade. So, we built one. I actually wasn't involved in the building of the ice rink...but I did get to slip and slide on it quite a bit!

One of the employees of the Dolly Hand was a shy, young man who kept his distance whenever I was near. The most I got from him was a "hi" and his name. But he caught my interest, much to the amusement of my friend Christina. I was teased the entire two days we were there, plus weeks afterwards for this small crush I held for the boy who wouldn't talk to me!

Almost five years later, still a crew member at the Eissey, I came into work one January day...and wouldn’t you know, but that shy young man had not only acquired a position there at the Eissey, but he had also grown up quite a bit. Much taller, much cuter than I had remembered, and much more welcoming and responsive! It was my crush, my Fenton...my soul mate!

We began dating a year after he began working at the Eissey, now together for 19 months (as of 7/24/07)...and engaged since Christmas Day, 2006! Fenton finally worked up the ‘chutzpa’ to ask me out thanks to Esther Dance’s Winter performance of The Nutcracker. We began texting one another at work, during this production week out of boredom, and ended up sending each other 100+ texts a day. Fun, flirty little conversations, which led to us getting to know one another better. On December 17, 2005 came the text message, “What would you say if I asked you out…?” I was very excited. The next day, December 18, 2005 we talked and began dating!

Now, he’s my best friend. My favorite person in the world. I’m completely in love with this man. And always will be…

And you know I still love to tease him about how shy and quiet he was so many years ago, and how he couldn't even look my way! *Sigh* - what can I say? Clearly, for me, it was love at first sight!

And now for Fenton's account of it all... as told by Fenton.

And I quote:

"Everything Shannon said is right. You heard me correctly: Shannon is right. She is always right. She is the boss... *wink wink* ...and I am the wee lad who remains captivated by her beauty, and gladly does her bidding."

Thus concludes Fenton's account of "Their Story."
